Full description

Đivo, who holds a degree in archaeology and history from the oldest Croatian university, the University of Zadar, will be your guide for this tour. By joining this tour, you will gain a profound insight into Dubrovnik's historical significance and its place in history. You will meet for the two-hour tour at the City Guard building, located next to the Bell Tower. Starting from Zlatarska...
street, which has the least amount of stairs in the city, we will take a short and easy walk to Peline street, which leads to the bottom of Minčeta fortress. Once inside, we will explore the hallways and casemates and learn about the introduction of firearms in Dubrovnik during the Middle Ages. You will then continue our tour by walking along the city walls, where you can capture unique and stunning photos of Dubrovnik. Next stop is Gornji Ugao tower, which will take us underground to a spectacular archaeological site of a 16th-century foundry. Here we will learn about metallurgy, the water supply system, and international trade during the Republic of Dubrovnik. Moving on, you will explore Dubrovnik's military architecture and delve into the production and use of cold weapons, war/military equipment, and siege devices during the medieval period. The next destination is the 16th-century artillery fortress, Bokar. You will tour the interior before climbing to the top to learn about the manufacture and use of firearms in Dubrovnik from the end of the Middle Ages to the beginning of the 19th century. The final stop is the medieval archaeological site of Benedictine nunneries and underground granaries. Walking through this vast archaeological site, you will get a glimpse of the Middle Ages and learn about church history, urbanization, and stockpiling of grain in the Republic of Dubrovnik. Throughout the tour, the tour guides expert commentary will be accompanied by A3 sized illustrations.
